What are Essential Oils?

For anyone new on their essential oil journey, it’s important to know the basics. What exactly is an essential oil?

Essential oils are aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers and other parts of plants. When you smell a rose, freshly cut mint, a bundle of lavender.. what you’re smelling is the essential oil! think about the peel of an orange, the leaf of a peppermint plant, the bark of a cinnamon plant, petal of a rose.

And beyond the heavenly smell and aromatherapy aspect of oils, they offer us powerful healing benefits and can support so many aspects of health and wellness. They can be used for health mood management, mental wellness, beauty, cooking, cleaning and making natural household products. Essential oils allow us to get all the healing benefits of nature straight from the plants!

High quality essential oils like doTERRA are organic, 100% pure and natural. They are incredibly potent. A little goes a long way!

Just ONE drop of peppermint essential oil equals 28 cups of peppermint tea.

Essential oils are harvested and extracted by either low-heat steam distillation or cold pressing.

Although there has been a lot of talk about essential oils in the last couple of years, they have been used for centuries throughout the history of time. They are nothing new. You’ve heard of frankincense and myrrh in the Bible and you’ve probably heard very common oils like peppermint, lavender and lemon. There are so many more, but those three are a great place to start!

I’m so excited you are interested in learning more about essential oils.
